Where have we came from

A Profile of Stuart Fraser - Director of SJF Media Solutions

Hello, my name is Stuart Fraser and I was until january 2009 employed as a Designer/ Developer for a very well known multi national company

My role encompassed many aspects of electronic delivery including the development and delivery of all web based applications and design and development of commercial and industrial databases.

My background was originally graphics based, so I also filled a requirement to provide a traditional illustration and graphic design service. The need to publish and re-print many types of content in a variety of electronic formats also required a full knowledge of Multimedia techniques.

The increasing use of digital projected presentations from the mid 90's onwards eventually became the tool of choice for daily business and resulted in the provision and design of corporate conferences, presentation templates and a series of interactive, animated training modules for use online, on CD, DVD and in conference situations.

Pushing the barriers

Moving Eye business card

During the 90's I was a partner and Art Director in a multimedia enterprise called Moving Eye. We produced full sound and motion multimedia CD's and digital business cards for commercial and industrial companies.
The cards were no bigger than a typical credit card but could be packed with video, animation and audio to successfully promote business. It was only the huge advances in web technology and broadband which allowed a similar product to be used online which spelled the end of these amazing little CD cards.

We also specialised in producing digital documents and indexed, interactive and searchable Acrobat PDF publications which could be accessed from a network, Intranet or other electronic devices.

Having some good old fashioned fun

Scott as Lord Farquar

Over the years I have been fortunate to be offered a variety of commercial projects that has allowed me to utilise my love of drawing and cartooning with commissions for T shirt printing, logo designs, restaurant & cafe menus, beer labels, event advertising, product assembly instruction, posters and caricatures.

A chance meeting with Scott Larner, director of Printout a commercial printing firm to produce some booklets, has proved to be a rewarding experience and a long lasting friendship leading to an invitation to produce his company christmas cards.

This for me has been a source of real pleasure with almost complete freedom to explore many madcap ideas, mind you, a strong sense of humour was required! as my friend Scott is always the butt of the joke and has been portrayed cruelly many times.

Thankfully he seems to to be able to laugh at himself (at least I hope so?) because this has become a tradition that has continued for many years.
